The KNOWING SCIENCE team, working with scientists, engineers, physicists, educators, and award-winning teachers developed an innovative and engaging curriculum that is based entirely on the NEXT GENERATION SCIENCE STANDARDS. Starting with the first draft of the FRAMEWORK FOR K-12 SCIENCE EDUCATION the KNOWING SCIENCE curriculum has been designed to provide unique and engaging learning experiences for all students, easy-to-implement lessons for teachers, and a foundation for school districts to transition to the new approach to teaching and learning science and engineering practices.

Knowing Science provides our youngest learners with engaging, age-appropriate science and engineering experiences and investigations which are relevant and connected to their own everyday lives.  Providing solid, foundational lessons at an early age allows for a continued and deepening understanding of science concepts and engineering practices as the student progresses through their educational journey.  The Kindergarten Curriculum includes Teacher Manuals, materials for hands-on activities, Student Activity Books in English and Spanish, and a Literacy Bundle.

Grade 3 Knowing Science continues to build on foundational knowledge and skills, based on experiences from their everyday lives that students could directly observe, investigate, and understand.  Students at the third grade level begin to reason more abstractly and can therefore understand concepts that are not directly related to their daily existence. They are also better able to understand the value of the idea of the actual process that leads to a final product or explanation.

The Grade 3 Curriculum includes Teacher Manuals, materials for hands-on activities, Student Activity Books in English and Spanish, and a Literacy Bundle.

Young children are innately inquisitive about the world around them.  Our curriculum encourages students to ask and investigate answers to questions about the world around them.  An understanding of their immediate surroundings leads to developing and understanding of magnitude; that their foundational ideas about life science, physical science, Earth and space science, and engineering can be applied on a larger scale.  The Grade 1 Curriculum includes Teacher Manuals, materials for hands-on activities, Student Activity Books in English and Spanish, and a Literacy Bundle.

Students at the fourth grade level are increasingly able to understand that concepts  occur on a greater scale or magnitude than within their own existence.  Their verbal  skills allow them to learn to engage in argument from evidence, including ideas from concrete inquiry or design challenges, as well as social implications of science or engineering practices. The Grade 4 Curriculum includes Teacher Manuals, materials for hands-on activities, Student Activity Books in English and Spanish, and a Literacy Bundle.

Students at this level continue to understand their world on a larger scale.  They enjoy comparing and classifying ideas to bring order to their world.  Throughout the year, second graders become increasingly able to carry out inquiry and design tasks with less guidance and greater independence. The Grade 2 Curriculum includes Teacher Manuals, materials for hands-on activities, Student Activity Books in English and Spanish, and a Literacy Bundle.

Students at the fifth grade level are able to sustain focus for longer periods of time, thus allowing for investigations or design challenges that are more long-term in nature.  They still benefit from concrete or manipulative activities that help them to understand abstract concepts that occur on a micro- or macro- scale. The Grade 5 Curriculum includes Teacher Manuals, materials for hands-on activities, Student Activity Books in English and Spanish, and a Literacy Bundle.
