Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center
The Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center's (FCOLC) MISSION is to RAISE AWARENESS, EDUCATE, and EMPOWER the citizens of the world to protect and preserve the planet’s waters, coastal areas, and endangered marine habitats and marine life by facilitating education, research, collaboration, advocacy, and empowerment.
Through knowledge sharing, impact initiatives and innovative technologies, the FCOLC develops educational programming, conservation efforts and marine research projects that will protect the earth’s waters while connecting the world to our ocean.
Our Ocean Discovery Educational Program has been created to inspire the students to learn about our Ocean and take greater care of our blue planet by sharing ideas and developing new approaches to saving our Ocean, and ultimately our planet’s health.
The Ocean is the great unifier and it is our shared responsibility to educate students and provide knowledge on how to protect our Ocean for future generations.
Would you like to see your students identify as aquanauts while becoming fascinated about ocean exploration? In this NGSS-aligned pack of lessons, students will become inspired by the work of Fabien Cousteau, the grandson of Jacques Cousteau, as they see, think, and wonder about a day in the life of an aquanaut. Lessons include: authentic videos of Fabien exploring in action, connections to Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), and recommended books to read with your students!
Recent climate change and global warming legislation requires teachers to inform their students about global issues around protecting the environment. Join us on a sea turtle adventure as we show you how to inspire your students to be aquanaut agents of change! In this NGSS-aligned pack of lessons, students learn about different types of sea turtles and witness community members taking action. Lessons include: exclusive videos and resources you won't find anywhere else, connections to Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), recommended books to read with your students!
Prepare to inspire your young engineers and scientists as they watch the world renowned ocean explorer Fabien Cousteau descend into the waters off the coast of Florida for an extended stay in Proteus, an underwater ocean habitat for humans. In this NGSS-aligned pack of lessons, students will have an opportunity to get inspired by Fabien's TED Talk and create their own presentations to defend their engineering designs. Lessons include: exclusive videos and resources related to even larger and more cutting-edge future building in the depths of the sea, connections to Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), and recommended books to read with your students.
