Dr. John Wilkin

Dr. John Wilkin is a Professor of Marine Sciences at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on the dynamics of marine ecosystems, satellite remote sensing, and data analysis and simulation of the coastal ocean and adjacent deep sea. His research work focuses on applied ocean observing and forecasting, merging high performance computer simulations with observations from satellites, underwater robotic vehicles, animal tags, and other novel platforms. The ocean forecast systems he develops, are applied to understanding how ocean dynamics...

2020 Anton Banko Award

for Excellence in Teaching Elementary Science

This award honors Anton Banko, an engineer who co-invented small incision cataract surgery. The technologies and procedures he pioneered are still used by surgeons today, and represent a true milestone in the evolution of STEM applications. It is in his memory that we celebrate an exceptional elementary teacher from New Jersey who is inspiring the next generation of inventors, scientists, and engineers.
